Valley Fine Foods Operations 100 Percent Powered by Renewable Energy
Sacramento, Calif. (PRWEB) August 01, 2013 -- Stellar Energy, a leading national provider of commercial solar systems, and Valley Fine Foods, the producer of hand-crafted gourmet pastas, have completed the installation of a state-of-the-art solar photovoltaic system to convert the natural foods provider’s Yuba City, Calif. facility to 100 percent renewable energy. The 656 kilowatt solar project is the second system Stellar Energy has delivered for Valley Fine Foods, and will produce approximately 1.7 million kilowatts-hours per year – the equivalent of powering 148 average U.S. homes.
The solar systems were deployed both on the roof and as a fixed-tilt ground mount covering approximately 2 acres and was designed to maximize financial and environmental benefits. Utilizing the latest in solar technology and building processes, Stellar Energy was successful in delivering the system on schedule and on-budget with minimal impact to Valley Fine Foods’ day-to-day operations.
“Stellar Energy provided us the best design that maximized our energy savings,” said Ryan Tu, Valley Fine Foods President. “Having completed one system in Benicia, they were the obvious choice to complete our second system in Yuba City. We are a family-owned business, passionate about food and the environment. We entrusted Stellar Energy to help us achieve our goal having all facilities and operations 100 percent powered by renewable energy.”
“It was an honor to partner with Valley Fine Foods,” said Ted Walsh, Stellar Energy Vice President of Project Development. “This solar system not only represents a profitable investment and responsible business strategy, it is also a clear demonstration of Valley Fine Foods’ sincere commitment to the environment and their community. Their commitment to quality is inspiring; producing their delicious raviolis with all-natural ingredients, even offering organic and gluten-free lines that come in renewable corn-based plastic packaging, and now entirely made using renewable power. These are meals that are healthy on many levels.”
Stellar Energy was able to introduce a financing solution that required no out of pocket investment while capitalizing on the significant federal tax incentives available. This enabled Valley Fine Foods to save on electric costs immediately, while also promising incredible financial savings in the long term through system ownership. For this reason the system was designed to minimize all production risk, operations and maintenance costs, while saving the most money possible per acre of land used.
