NeoSpeech, a leader in text-to-speech (TTS) software and speech-enabled solutions, has improved its phonetic languages support. Developers can now enjoy many phonetic symbols and languages by using the NeoSpeech text-to-speech engine and its VoiceText™ Markup Language (VTML).
Currently, NeoSpeech text-to-speech VTML supports English, Japanese, and Chinese languages. For English, developers may convert any phonetic symbol written in IPA (Internal Phonetic Alphabet), WorldBet (ASCII encoding of IPA), SAMPA (Speech Assessment Methods Phonetic Alphabet), SAPI Phoneme and the CMU (Carnegie Mellon University) Pronouncing Dictionary into voice by using VTML.
NeoSpeech text-to-speech also supports TeleAtlas SAMPA and Navteq SAMPA by providing a custom-made SDK based on customer’s needs.
For Japanese, VTML supports phonetic representation written in Katakana (片仮名, カタカナ or かたかな) and stress symbols (' ^ ' and ' / '). For Chinese, Pinyin can be presented phonetically by using VTML x-PINYIN tags.
