Unitech Composites, an AGC Aerospace & Defense Company, is pleased to announce it has achieved qualification as a manufacturing supplier to the Airbus global supply chain for A350 platforms.
“This distinction is a testament to the value Unitech provides Airbus and a reflection of our company’s strength in the aerospace and defense industry,” stated Tim Shuburg, General Manager at Unitech. “We are very proud to become a North American supplier for Airbus, and this partnership serves as the model as we continue to strategically realign and diversify our customer base.”
Unitech is now qualified for Airbus manufacturing and process specifications including the manufacture of monolithic parts with thermoset pre-preg materials and the machining of fiber reinforced plastic (FRP) components, among others.
The A350’s airframe is constructed out of advanced materials combining composite structures with titanium and advanced aluminum alloys. Initially, Unitech will produce assemblies to support both the wing structures and fuselage programs.
In addition to the new manufacturing partnership, Unitech will continue to play a key role in supplying composite components and assemblies to other Airbus manufacturing partners.
Unitech Composites designs and manufactures composite structures in commercial and military aerospace markets. The company maintains continued commitment to innovation, quality and flexibility towards the requirements of individual airlines and OEMs. Unitech operates within the AGC Composites & Aerostructures Group.
AGC Composites & Aerostructures, part of the AGC Aerospace & Defense portfolio, is jointly owned by The Edgewater Funds and Acorn Growth Companies. Its specialized products and capabilities include custom, weight-saving composite structures for legacy weapon systems, composite details and assemblies for aircraft currently in production, precision exotic metal assemblies for aircraft engines, and aircraft structural fusion welding (ASFW) on alloy metal parts for aftermarket spare programs.
