"President Obama, during his July 19th Trayvon Martin remarks, discussed the negative reinforcement that many underserved youth are getting today, and the need for us, as a country, 'to give them a sense that their country cares about them,'" says Ahmed Yearwood, Y INTERACT owner and founder. "Kids don't always need a government program. Very often, they simply need a positive mentor or role model to help them realize their own options and opportunities. These four organizations help students realize their own potential. I've seen the very real positive impact they have on kids," says Mr. Yearwood, who is a Junior Achievement volunteer and Big Brother.
