Unlike private browsing functions which only remove footprints on the user’s machine, the idcloak tool removes digital footprints from the internet itself.
Dallas, Texas (PRWEB) August 02, 2013
idcloak launches a free private web browsing tool that gives its user anonymous access to any website online.
Unlike private browsing functions built-into browsers, which only remove footprints on the user’s machine, the idcloak tool removes digital footprints from the internet itself. Consequently, a user’s browsing cannot be tied back to their computer by third-parties monitoring web use, not even by the owners of the visited sites.
Robin Welles, security and privacy researcher at idcloak, introduces the service, “We use a high-anonymity proxy system that runs off a virtual browser embedded into our site. When a website address is entered into the URL field, one of our IP addresses accompanies the request, not the user’s. The site only sees that idcloak accessed their pages.”
The privacy protection goes a step further, “Following the recent NSA controversies, ISPs (Internet Service Providers) have been accused of handing over user data to government agencies. Our tool uses both URL encryption and an SSL option so ISPs cannot see what sites are being accessed by the user.”
Welles nonetheless recommends additional privacy precautions for even better privacy, “There are other ways to identify users and track people online – such as cookies or web bugs – and these are everywhere nowadays. A conscientious privacy user will not only use a proxy, but also activate the private browsing feature on their browser and use a free adblocker browser extension like Ad Block Plus. This will make sure they are not identified by web bugs or cookies.”
A recent publication by Welles outlines some of the serious privacy incursions found in the modern internet landscape: WEBSITES CAN AND DO TRACK YOUR EVERY MOVE: HOW TO KEEP YOUR INFORMATION PRIVATE.
The release of idcloak’s private web browsing tool comes just weeks in advance of launching a software-based privacy system. This private VPN is tipped to offer sustained privacy on all internet programs, including mobile apps, without the need for user interaction.
