Extractiva has expanded the imaging functionality of PiranhaDox E-Discovery Software in version 2.30, making the product the most flexible e-discovery processing tool on the market. The new features include color detection, native application support, manual imaging support, and a flexible quality-control module. PiranhaDox supports the creation of TIFF, JPG, PNG and fully searchable PDF files.
Discovery is the process by which parties to litigation may request documents and other evidence. Electronic discovery, often termed “e-discovery,” extends this long-established practice to to the electronic realm. Documents, e-mail messages, spreadsheets, presentation files, websites, databases, and any other relevant electronic content are searched and reviewed for relevance to a matter being litigated. Extractiva developed the first commercially available e-discovery software application in 1999.
“One of our clients imaged 3.5 million pages in just 24 hours on two machines. They said that PiranhaDox’s imaging engine ran way faster than any other product they’ve seen,” said Marc Leymat, Senior Account Executive at Extractiva. “Our clients spoke and we listened. They loved how quickly and easily PiranhaDox processes their electronically stored information (ESI), but they also wanted more flexible options for imaging that data.”
- Color detection allows users to create color images for only those pages of a document which actually have color. This reduces data storage requirements and increases processing speed.
- Native application support allows users to link PiranhaDox to any software application capable of printing a specific file format, making it possible to image document types that were previously unsupported. For example, users can use third-party viewers to handle the imaging of CAD drawings.
- Manual imaging – useful for handling problematic or specialized documents - allows users to manually print documents and replace auto-generated images with the output.
- The user-friendly quality control module allows users to scroll through all or a random sampling of documents and allows users to tag and annotate documents for quality control, review, or production purposes.
The new functionality debuted in version 2.30 of PiranhaDox, and all existing users of the product will be updated during the month of June.
PiranhaDox is a full-featured e-discovery processing application that allows users to easily perform early case assessment, analytics, ingestion, indexing, and review of electronically stored information (ESI). PiranhaDox allows end-users and service providers to process and start reviewing 1 gigabyte of data in five minutes, and to easily process over 1 terabyte of data per day on a single machine.
