Dehydration Widely Misunderstood, Reports Water and Health Researcher Sharon Kleyne
Grants Pass, OR (PRWEB) August 02, 2013 -- According to Water and Health Researcher Sharon Kleyne, dehydration may be one of the most misunderstood physical complaints. This is concerning to her because it is also one of the most widespread physical complaints. In hot summer sun, says Kleyne, correct information about the causes, recognition, prevention and treatment of dehydration can save lives.
Sharon Kleyne is Founder of Bio Logic Aqua Research, a water and health research and product development center that developed and markets the all-water personal humidifying product Nature’s Tears® EyeMist®. Kleyne hosts the globally syndicated Sharon Kleyne Hour Power of Water® radio show on VoiceAmerica and Apple iTunes.
Dehydration is defined simply as the “loss of body water”. This includes the water in the skin and eyes. Some scientists include the loss of dissolved minerals normally contained in body water – particularly sodium or salt – but that is not widely accepted.
According to Kleyne, the body is 70 percent water and some body parts, such as blood plasma and the basal tear film covering the eyes, are 98% water. Kleyne believes that dehydration begins at birth and that dehydration prevention is a lifelong process. That’s why Kleyne and other health researchers recommend drinking 8 to 10 glasses of water a day in addition to other fluids. One of the greatest dehydration risk factors is exposure to hot summer sun, particularly when there is high humidity, which causes increased perspiration.
Dehydration is so pervasive, and can affect so many functions of the body – including viral resistance – that Sharon Kleyne believes dehydration will eventually prove to be the ultimate cause of every disease. Water may be lost via the skin, eyes, breathing passages, lungs, bladder, bowels and stomach.
A 2% loss of body water can result in dehydration complaints. These can result from fever, environmental conditions such as hot summer sun, and heavy exercise. The earliest dehydration complaints are thirst, dry mouth, eye discomfort, blurred vision, headache, fatigue and elevated blood pressure. More advanced complaints include swelling of the tongue, nausea, dizziness, fainting, heat stroke and death.
Treatment of dehydration depends on the cause, but always includes supplementing the lost body water. This is usually achieved through drinking but may also be accomplished with an IV drip. If the cause is hot summer sun, get out of the sun, drink extra water, relax and cool yourself off.
For immediate relief of dehydrated skin and eyes due to hot summer sun, Sharon Kleyne recommends a 100% water, all-natural, pH balanced mist applied to the dry eyes, facial skin and forearms with a personal, hand-held device. The only product meeting this description is Nature’s Tears® EyeMist®, developed and bottled by Bio Logic Aqua Research.
