AlertSystems Responds to CCTV Released Following Alleged Theft of Gift Vouchers
(PRWEB UK) 6 August 2013 -- Cambridgeshire Police have released CCTV images in relation to over £200 worth of gift vouchers which were allegedly stolen from a Homebase in Newmarket, reports Cambridge News on July 30 in their article ‘CCTV released after theft of gift vouchers’.
£230 worth of gift vouchers were taken from the Homebase store when a customer accidently left an envelope containing the vouchers in the till area and left the store on June 29 at 4.30pm.
When the customer contacted the store, a review of the CCTV footage showed the envelope being taken by another member of the public.
As specialists in business security solutions, AlertSystems stress the importance of having a CCTV system present to answer customer queries after a loss or theft as well as theft to their own stock.
A spokesperson from AlertSystems said:
“Unfortunately there are opportunistic thieves everywhere and they will take any chance to steal items from either other people or a business. The presence of CCTV is vital for retailers to protect their own stock and enhance their customer service. In this case they have been able to demonstrate to their customer that they had not mislaid the vouchers and prove they were actually stolen by a member of the public. If the retailer invests in a HD CCTV surveillance system, evidential quality images can be used to secure a successful prosecution.”
