Learner's Edge Introduces Online, Mentoring Resource for New Teachers
Lakeville, MN (PRWEB) August 05, 2013 -- First year teachers can often feel isolated and uncertain as they step into their classroom. With new teacher induction being virtually non-existent in many cash-strapped districts, Learner’s Edge wants to ensure that all first year teachers have a resource for that often challenging first year. Psst…I’m a New Teacher, is an online, mentoring community for all new teachers designed to provide an easily accessible community that provides encouragement and answers to common concerns that all teachers face in their first year on the job.
Psst…I’m a New Teacher, features a self-paced, interactive, online tutorial with advice and recommendations from mentor teachers focusing on the areas of:
• Classroom Management
• Building Community
• Parent Communication
• Conferences
• Observation and Testing
• Maintaining Balance in Teaching
In addition to the tutorial, new teachers will be able to request a complimentary New Teacher Tool Kit which includes special gifts for the new teacher along with a comprehensive text called The New Teacher Book: Finding Purpose, Balance, and Hope During Your First Years in the Classroom. Grade level mentor groups and resource recommendations will be additional interactive components included in this new community.
“We all remember the nervousness that came when standing in front of a classroom full of students for the first time,” says Joe Cotter, CEO of Learner’s Edge and former middle school teacher. “We wanted to provide a vibrant, positive community and resource for new teachers to share hopes, fears and questions with colleagues from throughout the country.”
