In "Modern Guitar Lick in the Style of Eric Johnson," MacLennan demonstrates a lick inspired by Johnson that is played over a Cminor chord, using the C pentatonic minor and the blues scales. A lick is a sequence of notes that can be incorporated into the melodic line of, or serve as a musical punctuation that separates parts of, a solo. In the video, MacLennan launches off the Cminor and builds a modern melodic line useful when playing Rock, Blues, Metal, Country, or Jazz.
MacLennan's instruction is clear and straightforward.
