Window Genie of Beaufort County is Under New Management

Terry plans to add to his team and expand the Window Genie presence in the Lowcountry area of South Carolina.
Before joining the Window Genie team, Gurley worked as a plant manager for a manufacturing company for 14 years. When the plant closed and Gurley's position was eliminated, he took the opportunity to look into opening his own business.
Gurley sought out the guidance and advice of a franchise expert. He was paired with David Mihalic, franchise coach with The Entrepreneur's Source. After completing a survey and having a few conversations about strengths, weaknesses, goals and interests, Mihalic was able to draw up a list of franchises that fit Gurley's wants and needs. He said, "Window Genie was one of the options that struck me as something I could be happy and successful doing. The business model was solid, not overcomplicated and owning a Window Genie would allow me to stay mobile, get outside and meet new people all the time. I was open to other options, but knew something in the service industry was going to be the best fit."
Having worked for his brother's business previously, Gurley was familiar with the day to day one might face as a small business owner. "I learned a lot about sales and management while working with my brother," Gurley said. Gurley also grew up on his father's farm in Arkansas where, "farmhands would meet in the morning, take their job orders and go out and do them. Managing a team requires similar skills no matter what the industry or what the job entails. Managing a team feels familiar to me. I like to move around during the day and be outside. Window Genie really put together all my wants and needs when it came to owning a business."
Gurley purchased an existing Window Genie franchise from Bob Lowry who still remains involved in the business. "This was another great reason to go with Window Genie, I was given the opportunity to purchase an established business with a partner who would stick around to offer advice. Also, purchasing an existing franchise meant I would have a solid customer base to get in touch with."
