Oxford City FC (OTCQB:WMXG) are offering any associates within the Armed Forces free entry to all of Oxford City’s home league games this forthcoming season, starting with the opening fixture at home to Harrogate Town on Saturday, 17 August. It’s a great deal being offered at the local award-winning community football club, with a huge saving of £11 for each and every Oxford City home league game this term.
This fantastic gesture complements the football club’s hugely successful partnership with Combat Stress the marvellous registered charity that specialises in effective treatment and support to veterans who leave the Armed Forces with psychological problems such as depression, phobias, anxiety and post-traumatic stress disorders. The club have hosted regular meetings for the charity and welcomed Combat Stress members into their volunteer workforce.
With the club’s stadium having a capacity of over several thousand spectators, City are hoping to regularly encourage as many members of the Armed Forces as possible through their gates during the 2013/14 season.
Throughout their illustrious 131-year history, Oxford City have experienced many promotions through the lower leagues, and manager Mike Ford and his strong squad of players this season. President of Oxford City FC Thomas Anthony Guerriero said, "The club will certainly be aiming for a top-five finish come the end of this season’s campaign".
City finished a highly respectable tenth in their debut season in the Conference North, and with just one further tier of English football separating the Hoops from the lucrative Football League status, there is plenty of ambition surrounding the club both on and off the pitch. With over 40 teams playing in blue and white hoops Oxford City are massive within the local community and this latest initiative is indicative of the positive ethos within the club.
