Arizona Corporation Commission Grants Approval to Blue Jay Wireless as Eligible Telecommunications Carrier
Dallas, TX (PRWEB) August 05, 2013 -- The Arizona Corporation Commission granted approval to Blue Jay Wireless, LLC to begin operations as an eligible telecommunications carrier thereby allowing Blue Jay to begin providing discounted cellphone service to eligible residents of Arizona under the federal Lifeline Program.
“Arizona is a great state that we have really been looking forwarded to,” states Blue Jay president and CEO, David Wareikis. “The lifeline program serves a great need across the country and we are excited and prepared to fulfill that need for the residents of Arizona.”
Blue Jay Wireless subscribes to the mission of the Lifeline Program and strongly employs and enforces the strict rules set forth by the FCC in determining qualified low-income consumers for the program across the country. With this commitment to integrity, training, and compliance, Blue Jay Wireless is focused to bringing the highest level of customer service, awareness, and responsibility to eligible residents in Arizona.
Created in 1985 under the Reagan administration, the Lifeline Program was designed to ensure all low-income Americans have phone access to connect to jobs, family and emergency services. In 2005, as the proliferation of cellphones had increasingly replaced landlines, the Lifeline Program was expanded to include wireless service in addition to traditional landline service.
Available in every state, territory, commonwealth, and on Tribal lands, the Lifeline program is available to eligible low-income consumers, and allows for only one Lifeline phone per household. Eligibility criteria may vary by state.
