Charlottesville, VA (PRWEB) August 05, 2013
Meddius, LLC, the leading provider of Integration as a Service (IaaS) in healthcare, has announced the successful completion of its first SSAE 16 audit. Included in the audit was the Meddius Integration Platform, an implementation of IaaS, composed of on-premise, enterprise-grade integration appliances and distributed highly available transport for data interchange that is coupled with professional managed services for rapid interface deployment and comprehensive technical support.
The platform delivers the following technology components:
An appliance-based Enterprise Service Bus (ESB) that simplifies the integration and flexible re-use of clinical, financial, and supply chain data and applications within a Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA).
A secure and HIPAA/HITECH compliant technology for the transmission of ePHI and healthcare data from Integration Routers® to destination systems over the internet.
The development and implementation of interfaces with 24/7 support, maintenance, and continuous monitoring of the integration platform to ensure data is always delivered to its destination.
“Meddius’s focus on strong internal controls is evident in this report,” says Jim Jimenez, Managing Partner at SSAE 16 Professionals, LLP. “The successful completion of this audit is a testament to Meddius’s integrity, accountability, and its commitment to its clients.”
The audit undergone by Meddius was conducted in accordance with the AICPA SOC reporting standards. The audit was conducted by SSAE 16 Professionals, LLP, a full service accounting firm providing SSAE 16 (SOC 1) audits, SOC 2 audits, and other IT compliance audits.
About SSAE 16 (SOC 1) Reports
SSAE 16 audits, also known as SOC 1 audits, have effectively replaced SAS 70 audits and are performed in accordance with Statement on Standards for Attestation Engagements (SSAE) No. 16, Reporting on Controls at a Service Organization. SSAE 16 reports retain the original purpose of SAS 70 by providing a means of reporting on the system of internal control for purposes of complying with internal control over financial reporting. SSAE 16 reports are restricted use reports for the following areas:
- Management of the service organization (the company who has the SSAE 16 performed)
- User entities of the service organization (service organization’s clients), and
- The user entities’ financial auditors (user auditor). The report can assist the user entities’ financial auditors with laws and regulations such as the Sarbanes-Oxley Act. A SSAE 16 enables the user auditor to perform risk assessment procedures, and if a Type II report is performed, to assess the risk of material misstatement of financial statement assertions affected by the service organization’s processing
Meddius' mission is to improve patient care by helping organizations make healthcare data universally accessible. Meddius fulfills that mission by building best-in-class integration solutions that enable the industry to accelerate and simplify the exchange of mission-critical information among applications.
