DBC Pri-Med, LLC Appoints Dr. R. Mark Evans as Medical Director
Boston, Mass. (PRWEB) August 05, 2013 -- DBC Pri-Med, LLC today announced that Dr. R. Mark Evans has been appointed Medical Director to lead and evolve pmiCME’s clinical editorial team. pmiCME is the accreditation division of DBC Pri-Med, LLC. Under his leadership, Pri-Med will expand its collaboration with medical schools and associations to build a national curriculum that develops customized education tailored to clinicians’ needs as defined by their patients' health. Dr. Evans will report to DBC Pri-Med President and COO Lynn Long.
Dr. Evans joins DBC Pri-Med most recently from the American Medical Association, where as director of the Division of Healthcare Education Products & Standards he managed editorial development and planning of all AMA grant-supported clinical continuing medical education (CME) programs. He was involved in the strategic planning for disease management education programs for physicians and patients, education needs assessment and gap analysis, and outcomes measures for educational activities. Dr. Evans also provided support for the AMA PRA credit system, AMA Ethical Opinion on CME, and ACCME Standards for Commercial Support.
“We are thrilled to welcome a leader with Dr. Evans’s CME experience, particularly given his familiarity with the issues and challenges facing today’s modern medical practice,” said Lynn Long, President and Chief Operating Officer of Pri-Med. “Dr. Evans will be focused on helping Pri-Med cultivate content resources that will fulfill its vision of what a CME and EHR combination can achieve for improving patient care.”
Dr. Evans was also director of Education and Training for AMA’s health IT program, AMAGINE, Inc., designed to provide group practice physicians with health IT solutions, including point-of-care decision support tools, electronic health records, patient registries, and e-prescribing.
“I am excited to join DBC Pri-Med and bring my experience to the organization, particularly in areas where the company is leading the way with respect to closing medical knowledge gaps in clinical practice,” said Dr. Evans. “A key part of this effort will be developing resources that will build a robust decision support library for our EHR users and the network of 260,000 clinicians who rely on Pri-Med for CME.”
Dr. Evans received his doctoral degree in pharmacology from the State University of New York at Buffalo and did his postdoctoral work at Baylor College of Medicine and the University of Texas Health Science Center in Houston before joining the AMA.
