Wilmington, NC (PRWEB) August 06, 2013
Historic Wilmington’s Epicurean Evening, the region’s premier culinary competition, will be held Thursday, August 22, at the Wilmington Convention Center. Thirty top local chefs and epicureans will set up and create their specialties to raise money for local children in need.
“Year after year, I am delighted and amazed at the talents of our Epicurean Evening chefs and the overwhelming enthusiasm of our guests,” says Methodist Home for Children President Bruce Stanley. “The community has truly embraced this event and its greater purpose of serving children and families in crisis. We are thankful for the support and the opportunity to share our life-changing work.”
Founded over 110 years ago, Methodist Home for Children serves all children and families in crisis regardless of religious affiliation.
Each year, top chefs and epicureans donate their best dishes and skills in a friendly and noble competition for the coveted Copper Kettle Award. Winners from 2010-2012 - Pine Valley Market, Ruth’s Chris Steakhouse and Hilton Wilmington Riverside - will return this year to make a second run at the Copper Kettle.
Other competitors for 2013 include popular local eateries such as East Oceanfront Dining at Blockade Runner, 22 North, Elijah’s, LongHorn Steakhouse, Poor Piggy’s BBQ, Havana’s, Catch; bakeries and specialty food vendors such as Coastal Cupcakes, Uprising Bakery, Apple Annie’s Bake Shop, Rita’s Italian Ice; and beverage vendors such as Coastal Beverage and Duplin Winery.
In addition to a gourmet experience, live and silent auctions will offer guests the opportunity to bid on getaways, sporting events, entertainment packages and merchandise. A David Yurman timepiece valued at $2,400 is the prize in this year’s Reeds Diamond Champagne Toast.
Music will be provided by Main Event Sound.
Proceeds of Epicurean Evening benefit MHC programs for children and families in the greater Wilmington area.
