Backupify Announces Universal Cloud Storage Support
Cambridge, Massachusetts (PRWEB) August 06, 2013 -- Backupify, the leading provider of cloud-to-cloud backup and recovery solutions for Software as a Service (SaaS) applications, today announced plans to expand their support for multiple data storage providers to give customers more ownership over their data. Universal support for data storage providers helps companies control and manage their data - completely on their terms.
According to research firm IDC, it is estimated that public cloud services will account for almost $100 billion in spending by 2016. Not surprisingly, as more organizations embrace cloud computing solutions, there has been a significant increase in the amount of critical organizational data stored in the cloud. With vast amounts of data stored in SaaS apps and in the cloud, enterprise companies are seeking enhanced security, privacy, control, and access. Backupify’s universal storage provider support will enable IT organizations to retain comprehensive ownership of their data by having a second, independent copy of their SaaS data archives stored wherever they want. Initially, Backupify plans to offer support for the following cloud data storage providers: self-managed Amazon S3 storage accounts, Rackspace, and Google Cloud Storage. Additionally, Backupify has future plans to support on-premise storage.

Many of our larger customers have existing relationships with data storage providers, and have been asking for centralized management of their data, including backups. These companies have massive amounts of data and want the ease of storing their data in one place, under their full control. Those customer requests were the motivation behind Backupify’s ‘Bring Your Own Storage’ (BYOS) product direction.”
Backupify currently stores a second copy of a customer’s data in an encrypted archive in Amazon’s reliable and scalable storage cloud. For those Backupify customers interested in using their own data storage provider, Backupify is currently testing with a select group of customers and welcomes additional participation. The BYOS pilot program allows customers to store their backups in their self-managed Amazon account. Expanded support for additional storage cloud providers will be available by year end.
