Synedgen's Synoplex® is Headed to the Lewa Wildlife Conservancy in Kenya
Claremont, CA (PRWEB) August 06, 2013 -- Synedgen is donating a supply of its veterinary wound rinse product Synoplex®, designed to treat infected, chronic and non-infected wounds in elephants and rhinoceros, to the Lewa Wildlife Conservancy. The donation is in honor of the late Anna Merz, a world champion of black rhinoceroses and animal conservation, who helped start Lewa in response to the poaching and slaughter of rhinoceroses.
“Synedgen applauds the efforts of the Lewa Conservancy, and would like to contribute to the legacy of Anna Merz. We hope Lewa will find Synoplex to be helpful in their efforts to treat wounds and improve healing not only in rhinos, but other pachyderms in the Conservancy,” stated Synedgen president Shenda Baker.
“This donation marks the first use of Synoplex in the wild, and we are proud to support Lewa’s conservation effort,” added Synedgen CEO William Wiesmann. “We are particularly pleased that the active ingredients in Synoplex are biodegradable and will not harm the environment.”
Founded in 1995, the Lewa Wildlife Conservancy (http://www.lewa.org) spans 61,000 acres and serves as catalyst for conservation across northern Kenya. Lewa holds 11% of Kenya’s black rhino population and 20% of the world’s Grevy’s zebras. Through the protection and management of endangered species, the initiation and support of community conservation and development programs, and the education of neighboring communities in the value of wildlife, Lewa has become a model in Kenya for wildlife conservation on private land, a favored destination for low impact tourism, and a leading catalyst for development centric conservation in northern Kenya. The Conservancy is also home to the Northern Rangelands Trust, an innovative community conservation partnership where upwards of 25 communities, spanning over three million acres of land to the north of Lewa, have embraced wildlife conservation as part of their vision for development of the people and land on which they live.
Lewa Executive Director Ginger Thomson stated, “We are grateful to Synedgen for providing our hard-working team at Lewa, led by Matthew Matunda of the Kenya Wildlife Service, an opportunity to use Synoplex with our rhinoceroses. We currently have more than 130 rhino within the Conservancy's fences, and we work with several other conservancies on rhino conservation, leading efforts to bring the newest technologies and science to preserve this iconic animal in the wild. As an experienced wildlife vet, Matunda was thrilled to be one of the first to use Synoplex directly in the field.”
Synoplex is legally marketed as an FDA Indexed Product under MIF 900-012, and is available directly from Synedgen.
