Children’s Anti-Bully Series Written to Teach Children How to Combat Bullies
(PRWEB) August 06, 2013 -- It is factual that bullying has been part of history and affected children in the past. It seems like it’s a normal part of growing up. It’s sad that it's just accepted it as a part of being a kid. To put this ridiculous myth to bed for good! A child does not have to be bullied to grow up. The “Sticks and stones may break my bones but words will never hurt me.” is a saying that has been adopted over the course of time, but that saying is not true.
During an interview with Alicia C. Mattern the creator and illustrator of the book mentioned the following " We pass this lie along so our children can “deal” with the trauma of humiliation and taunting. Another sad fact is that some children cannot handle the abuse. It’s 2013. We need a new tool!"
The author and illustrator together created a tool that helps children cope with bullies and teaches bullies how very wrong it is to hurt others. To give children the gift that teaches them respect, honor and friendship.
Zombie Squirts is a picture book series about a gang of zombie kids who struggle, learn, grow, laugh and love in a Halloween kind of world. Losing limbs, a worm living in your face, playing yo-yo with an eyeball and hugging a ghost dog are all part of life in Zombie Town. But just because the Zombie Apocalypse has come and gone doesn't mean that zombie kids don't deal with human, kid-like issues, too! From braces to bullying, to even losing a pet, the Zombie Squirts look for the positive and work through those challenging times together, in their own zombie-kid way.
The book was created for parents to read with their children along with Captain Crawly, the Zombie Squirts’ pirate spider! He’s hidden throughout the book.
