Mosaica Education Announces New Online School for K-12 Students in Michigan

Mosaica Online Academy of Michigan, approved today by the Michigan Department of Education, is an online public charter school that is tuition-free to K-12 students in the state of Michigan.

The Head of School, Mark Weinberg, says, “The Mosaica model will be a perfect educational fit for many students throughout the State of Michigan, offering an innovative school choice to meet their academic and life goals.”

Mosaica Education Inc. announced today that it has received approval from the Michigan Department of Education to open a new online public school (called Mosaica Online Academy of Michigan) to begin serving students throughout the state of Michigan in the 2013-14 school year. The school will offer students an innovative education program through engaging digital learning experiences and individualized live instruction from certified teachers. Mosaica Academy of Michigan intends to enroll students from around the state of Michigan in all grades K-12 for the upcoming school year. As a public school, Mosaica Academy of Michigan will be open to all eligible students in the state, however its emphasis will be on providing a college preparatory curriculum to students who may not be fully served by their existing school options.

The school's instructional model and academic strategies will focus on putting every student on a path to earning their high school diploma and attending a college of their choice. Every student will receive a Personalized Student Achievement Plan (PSAP) that fits each child's unique strengths, weaknesses, learning styles and aptitudes. Mosaica Online Academy of Michigan will utilize Mosaica’s proprietary Paragon curriculum and will follow its Advance Ed-accredited education model.

Mosaica Online Academy of Michigan is governed by a non-profit board comprised of Michigan parents and community leaders, which is responsible for establishing the school's policies and overseeing its academic, operational and financial performance. Chris LaGrande, Chair of the Board, said, "We are very pleased our school received approval from the Michigan Department of Education and we are excited about offering a unique public education program in Michigan to help reach students where they are.”

Mosaica Online Academy of Michigan will utilize the services of Mosaica Online and its proprietary Paragon curriculum as well as technology and school services provided by Mosaica Education Inc., one of America's most experienced charter school management organizations. Mosaica Education manages seven schools around the state of Michigan and Mosaica Online Academy of Michigan will be its eighth. Mosaica Online Academy of Michigan is the sixth online school created by Mosaica Online—Mosaica additionally offers tuition-free online public and/or charter schools in Arizona, Colorado, Ohio and Southern California in addition to a private online school.
