The Green Electronics Council today announced that GreenStar Hub, a group-buy marketplace and bidding platform for sustainable products and services, has committed to the EPEAT® Champion program. GreenStar Hub will highlight the EPEAT green electronics rating system throughout its innovative marketplace, including its Green Builders market segment.

EPEAT is the definitive global rating system for greener electronics. It is used as an environmental purchasing requirement by eight national governments, including the United States, and is integrated into hundreds of municipal, educational, healthcare and enterprise IT contracts worldwide.

“We’ve already incorporated EPEAT into our patent-pending GreenStar Rating and will soon begin pooling orders of environmentally preferable electronics from our marketplace,” said Tam Phung, CEO of GreenStar Hub. “It's an honor to be selected as an EPEAT Champion. I look forward to highlighting EPEAT among our GreenStar Hub Network of buyers and sellers using our GreenStar Wall content management platform and mobile app to be launched soon.”

With categories for PCs, monitors, televisions, printers, copiers, multifunction devices and other Imaging Equipment, the EPEAT system is becoming an integral part of the IT channel. Leading distributors and resellers regularly use EPEAT to support their customers’ green purchasing initiatives.

As an EPEAT Champion, GreenStar Hub will collaborate with the Green Electronics Council on support and education initiatives to help the group-buy marketplace prefer EPEAT in their strategic sourcing initiatives. The organizations will also create links between their websites to provide complementary education and resources to visitors.

About GreenStar Hub
GreenStar Hub (GSH) is a group buy marketplace and bidding platform for sustainable products and services. GSH serve businesses and governments. GSH uses its proprietary assessment GreenStar RatingT to score products, services, and projects using 5 leaves. Existing certifications and third party verifications are weighted so that with just a few questions, GSH learning algorithms can quickly assess how green the product is. This assessment tool is intended to give the buyer an idea if something is considered green by existing standards. EnergyStar, EPEAT, EcoSense, Cradle to Cradle, UL, and LEED are just a few examples of certifications used.
