Compact Precision Rotation Stage with High-Speed Ultrasonic Motor Introduced by PI
Auburn, MA (PRWEB) August 06, 2013 -- PI (Physik Instrumente) L.P. – a leading manufacturer of opto-mechanical and nanopositioning equipment introduces the U-628, a rotary positioner driven by an ultrasonic ceramic motor.
On a very small footprint of only 2x2 inches, it provides high rotational velocity up to 1800 RPM (1080 deg/sec). An optical encoder is integrated for position feedback and direct position measurement with 35 µrad resolution.
The stage also provides a small central aperture of 7mm and comes complete with an optical reference switch. A vacuum compatible version is also available.
Ultrasonic Ceramic Direct-Drive Motor
The rotary stage is driven by a high-frequency oscillating piezoelectric ceramic that also acts as a break for the stage when at rest or when the power is shut off, improving long term stability significantly.
Application examples
Opto-mecahnics, positioning of optics, polarization rotation, sample handling and positioning where space is at a premium.
