Penn State Public Broadcasting has launched a new identity as Penn State Public Media (PSPM) to better reflect the breadth of public service media it is currently providing.
Penn State Public Media will include WPSU-TV, WPSU-FM, the Creative Media Group and Media Sales.
Kate Domico, executive director of public media, said the name change better communicates Penn State Public Media’s value to central Pennsylvania as it branches out into new media platforms to provide content across broadcast and online systems.
“We will continue to operate as a broadcasting service but have expanded to online content development and we wanted our name to reflect that,” Domico said. “Penn State Public Media creates compelling original programming and we will continue to deliver high-quality PBS and NPR content as well.”
Domico said this new positioning prepares the organization for advancements in technology and expanding multimedia by offering a consistent brand that includes television, radio, web, educational outreach and community engagement.
“As a public media organization licensed to Penn State, we have a particular responsibility and a unique opportunity to serve as a trusted source of information,” Domico said.
