AMP Holding, Inc. Delivers First AMP All-Electric Paratransit Bus With Wireless Charging
Cincinnati, OH (PRWEB) August 07, 2013 -- AMP Electric Vehicles (OTCBB and OTCQB: AMPD) today will be delivering the first of two all-electric paratransit buses which will be operated by the Berks Area Regional Transportation Authority (BARTA). The vehicles will first be delivered to Momentum Dynamics of Malvern, PA for final adjustments to the wireless charging system. The all-electric Ford E-450-based bus will be deployed in paratransit service by BARTA later this summer.
BARTA is the first major transportation authority in Pennsylvania to deploy fully electric vehicles, and the first in the US to deploy electric paratransit vehicles.
AMP’s battery electric power train, and Momentum Dynamic’s wireless charging system replace the 6.8 liter, V10 gasoline-powered engine original equipment package in the very popular 2013 Ford E450 bus.
"AMP proved that they could deliver a superbly engineered solution. They proved that they could work closely with our engineering team, and deliver ahead of schedule and on budget a vehicle that exceeded our expectations." said Andy Daga, Chief Executive Officer of Momentum Dynamics.
The BARTA bus has 100 KwH battery-pack and an expected range of up to 100 miles on a full charge with seating for eight passengers and a wheel chair. The vehicle has a wheelchair lift and is air-conditioned. Equipped with Momentum Dynamics wireless system, charging the batteries is accomplished by parking it over the charging pad and electricity is safely and quickly passed from the charging pad to the vehicle’s battery management system. Onboard software manages the connection between the charging pad and the vehicle.
Steve Burns, AMP CEO added, ”We are delighted to be working with Momentum and BARTA on a project this exciting. It proves that wirelessly-charged paratransit vehicles can be used on the same duty cycle as petroleum fueled vehicles, and that these vehicles accomplish the mission with zero emissions.”
Dennis D. Louwerse, Executive Director/CEO of BARTA stated “This project is important to BARTA’s mission to provide safe, efficient, convenient and dependable public transportation and will at the same time be part of the environmental and energy solution to our community.” He further extended BARTA’s appreciation to PennDOT, AMP and Momentum Dynamics for their cooperation.
