Boise, Idaho (PRWEB) August 07, 2013
Karen Bostick, creator and CEO of PetsPage.com is profiled in the August-September 2013 issue of Urban Liaison Magazine. The Urban Liaison Magazine is a bi-monthly, community lifestyle magazine distributed throughout the regional Boise, Idaho area. The magazine is distributed in over 700 locations throughout the area known as the Treasure Valley, which covers parts of southwestern Idaho and Eastern Oregon area.
Bostick was approached by the magazine’s editor, Cheryl Richards, a fellow pet lover, when Cheryl heard about Bostick’s personal story and how she is spreading her pet advocacy mission. The article, written by journalist Christy Hovey, profiles Bostick’s journey from just one of the 140 million happy and content pet owners throughout the country, who believe their pets to be a member of the family to a woman on a mission.
Hovey documents how a rare auto immune disease contracted by Bostick’s beloved little Maltipoo dog, Tinks led to an impassioned advocacy and a mission of creating awareness of the life-saving treatments available through the advanced techniques used today by veterinary specialists.
Bostick tells Hovey that her general veterinarian diagnosed the illness properly, but the prescribed treatments simply were not working. Losing Tinks, only 5 at the time, was a real possibility. Karen begged her general veterinarian for more options. Karen found out about the existence of veterinary specialists with only moments to spare in Tinks’ life. The advanced treatments administered to Tinks under the direction of Dr. Victoria Ochoa, a board certified veterinary internal medicine specialist, is what ultimately saved Tinks’ life. As the daughter of a veterinarian herself, even Bostick was unaware that veterinary specialists existed. Veterinary specialists go to school for at least four additional years of advanced training to become certified in their area of expertise. If Bostick was unaware, it was a good bet that the overwhelming majority of pet lovers lacked knowledge of veterinary specialists too, leading her to create petspage.com.
Tinks’ Story and Karen’s mission has struck a chord with pet lovers around the world. During the development process of PetsPage.com, Bostick created several Facebook pages to share Tinks’ Story and his adventures. The response has been overwhelming to say the least. Social media users and pet lovers all over the world not only embraced Tinks, they fell in love with him. Tinks has become a social superstar with Karen’s Facebook pages - Karen Bostick & Tinks, We Love Tinks, and MyPetAdvocate.org, collectively garnering over 150,000 likes and growing.
"I am honored to be selected by Urban Liaison Magazine for this profile. Cheryl and Christie were a delight to work with and I enjoyed discussing Tinks’ Story and my mission of creating awareness among pet owners in Boise and beyond of the life-saving treatments veterinary specialists can provide," said Bostick.
PetsPage.com is a brand new social pet community that its Founder and CEO, Karen Bostick calls, “A Social Place for the Pet.” PetsPage.com has a primary mission to make pet owners aware of a higher level of veterinary care in the form of veterinary specialists that few pet owners know exist, and that can quite literally save pets’ lives.
PetsPage.com is not, however, just a dry pet health education website. In fact, it’s anything but. PetsPage.com is an engaging social pet community designed to connect pet lovers with other pet lovers as well as veterinary specialists, other pet professionals and pet products in a fun, friendly and interactive way. "I’ve really had fun creating new ways to incorporate more social features to attract pet owners to this important information," said Bostick.
PetsPage is based in Boise, Idaho.
