Chicago, Illinois (PRWEB) August 09, 2013
You don't need to get on a plane to go Brazilian this summer. Just come to Logan Square on the last weekend of August to party at Brasil Fest Chicago 2013, the second edition of the biggest — and hottest — Brazilian event in the Midwest!
The Brasil Fest stage will be graced by an outstanding roster of performers. Asides from the ever-popular rhythms of samba, bossa nova and Brazilian Jazz, the festival will feature pop, rock and soul bands, and even DJs spinning Carioca funk and Brazilian beats. Samba and zumba instructors will show the crowd how to move, while Chicago's top Capoeira groups will dazzle with acrobatics and Afro-Brazilian folkloric dances.
Brasil Fest guests will also have lots to do on the sidelines, including sampling Brazilian treats and soft drinks provided by Oak Park restaurant Taste of Brasil. A kids' tent offering face painting, crafts and Brazilian games will keep the little ones busy, while workshops for all ages will help everyone channel their inner Brazilian by learning percussion, Capoeira and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ), and soccer. Chicago Fire midfielder Alex Monteiro De Lima and forward Maicon Santos — the team’s two Brazilian players — will be around for a meet-and-greet.
"Brasil Fest Chicago is a dream come true," said festival Founder and President Moacyr Marchini, who has been leading Chicago Samba and other area groups for over two decades. "For many years I searched for a way to give a physical space in the streets of Chicago for the Brazilian community to express themselves artistically. The festival is a joy for people of all nationalities who appreciate the vitality and diversity of Brazil's culture."
"Brasil Fest has come a long way in a short amount of time," said festival Chairman Sergio Barreto. "With the addition of performers from Missouri, Iowa and Wisconsin, we are closer to achieving our goals of building a truly regional festival and establishing Chicago as the key center for Brazilian culture in the Midwest."
Brasil Fest is primarily supported by the Consulate General of Brasil in Chicago and StarEvents, a leading Chicago-area promoter. Companies wishing to connect their brands to the local Brazilian-American community are invited to review our sponsor package, while Chicago-area residents who want to be part of the festival can volunteer to help out before, during and after the event; all volunteers will receive a free Brasil Fest T-shirt.
