Gentle Giant Moving Company Closes Out Boston Cannons Lacrosse Season with the Ultimate Athletic Challenge
Cambridge, MA (PRWEB) August 09, 2013 -- This Saturday at Harvard Stadium, before their last game of the season, the Boston Cannons lacrosse team will have more than just the Rochester Rattlers to worry about. The Cannons will also square off against their fans and Gentle Giant Movers on the Gentle Giant Challenge, an intense race on the unique speed stairs workout vehicle which lacrosse players and movers use to train.
In the Fan Zone before the grudge match between the Cannons and Rattlers, who both sit at 5-8 for the season, Gentle Giant Moving Company will challenge everyone in attendance to see how fast they can complete five laps up the stairs and down the slide, either for fun, or the chance to win prizes. A large turnout is expected, as The Gentle Giant Challenge has developed a following in the athletic community due to the fact it continues to pop up at athletic events throughout Massachusetts, including the Head Of The Charles Regatta and Boston Cannons home games.
Gentle Giant Moving Company and the Boston Cannons have been working together for the past four seasons, which included the monumental 2011 season, in which the Boston Cannons won the team's first Major League Lacrosse Championship with a 10-9 win over the Hamilton Nationals.
“The Boston Cannons are an excellent example of how training and fitness are at the core of success,” Gentle Giant Moving Company Founder and CEO Larry O’Toole explains. “We are thrilled that the Gentle Giant Speed Stairs could be a part of their winning training program.”
The Gentle Giant Challenge is so popular among local athletes because they provide a fun twist on the classic Harvard Stadium runs, a workout that requires running all 37 sections of the 110 year old stadium’s steep steps. To take The Challenge, come to the Fan Zone at the Stadium this Saturday, starting at 5pm. During the game, which begins at 7pm, spectators will witness history as Boston’s Chris Eck will go for his 1000th faceoff win this weekend. Eck needs just eight faceoff wins to reach the milestone.
