Tidewater Physical Therapy Announces: One Week Left to Donate Old Tennis Shoes in Virginia Beach, Chesapeake and Norfolk, VA
Newport News, Va. (PRWEB) August 30, 2013 -- Old sneakers littering the house?
For one more week, Tidewater Physical Therapy, Fleet Feet Running Shop, the Virginia Beach Field House and Running Etc. are collecting old tennis shoes in Virginia Beach, Chesapeake and Norfolk to help raise money in support of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.
The collection efforts last until Sept. 6 in support of Rose Wildermuth, who will run The Nike Women’s Marathon in San Francisco in October.
In exchange for training and support, Team In Training participants raise funds to support research, financial aid and support for patients and families fighting blood cancers like leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin’s disease and myeloma.
GreenSneakers takes these donated tennis shoes and gives them a second chance at life as affordable footwear for people in need around the world. For every pound of gently worn tennis shoes collected, GreenSneakers will donate 50 cents to The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.
Sneaker drop off spots are conveniently located throughout Virginia Beach, Chesapeake and Norfolk.

The drop off locations will accept new and gently used sneakers. As these shoes will be cleaned up and used again, please be sure donated shoes do not have large rips or tears and that the soles are intact. Hiking shoes – with nubby turf soles – are accepted. Sports cleats, high heels, dress shoes, flip-flops, sandals, work boots and slippers are not accepted.
Please connect the shoes together as pairs, either with string a zip-tie or placed in the same bag so the pair remains together during processing.
