Walla Walla, WA (PRWEB) August 07, 2013 -- Charles Bieler & Charles Smith have announced that they have launched a Chardonnay from the Columbia Valley, Washington under their Charles & Charles brand. This is the inaugural white wine that they have produced together and joins a highly-lauded dry Rosé and a Cabernet Blend, both grown and produced in Washington.
Charles & Charles is a collaboration founded in 2008 between Charles Smith (K Vintners, Charles Smith Wines) and Charles Bieler (Three Thieves, BIELER Père et Fils & Gotham Project). The Charles & Charles brand is outpacing the Washington wine category by 25.3%.*
100% Chardonnay, the new varietal is produced from several cool climate Columbia Valley vineyards including Upland, Carpenter, Newhouse, Snipes Mountain, and Roza Hills. The Columbia Valley AVA is the largest appellation in the state of Washington, covering an average of 11 million acres.
Smith, Bieler and their winemaking team have been scouring Washington for the last two years to find the right vineyards to produce the full flavored yet refined and distinct chardonnay that they love. Chardonnay is the #1 selling varietal in the US, and the #2 varietal from Washington, comprising 21% of Washington wine sales.* Washington is the second-largest wine producing state behind California.
The Charles & Charles Chardonnay was pressed whole cluster and partially fermented with 20% new French Oak and aged sur lees for 7 months. The wine offers an abundance of white fruit (apple blossoms & pear), floral notes, minerality and finesse.
“Our chardonnay is the crossroads where power meet finesse,” commented Charles Bieler, "and the label is like a big bright stop sign that says grab me and take me home.” Charles Smith added, “The purity, beauty and sense of place shows the amazing potential for world class chardonnay in Washington State.”
The 2012 Charles & Charles Chardonnay retails for $12. Bottle shots are available at the following link: http://xnet.tfewines.com/files.php?brand=&brands%5B46%5D=Charles+%26+Charles&varietal=&category=&categories%5B5%5D=Bottle+Shots&keywords=&x=25&y=11
