Data Center Reaps Benefits Using Bes-Tech’s Digi-CRAC™
Omaha, NE (PRWEB) August 08, 2013 -- A Data Center in Beijing, China recently retrofitted three 25-ton DX Computer Room Air Conditioning (CRAC) units with dual compressors installing Bes-Tech, Inc’s. patented Digi-CRAC™ technology which is an aftermarket control device designed specifically for data center direct expansion coil units.
Digi-CRAC retrofit achieved 38% savings in annual electrical costs by reducing the electrical usage from 50.38 kWh/hr to 36.07 kWh/hr, which translates to a two year simple payback for the project. By improving the energy efficiency of the Data Center, the Digi-CRAC reduced the data center’s carbon footprint while delivering improved system reliability and stability by optimizing the balance between unit capacity modulation and space load variations. As a result of the project, more projects are initiated.
“We are excited that we have the opportunity to install our patented technology with great partners, helping them achieve their energy efficiency goals while protecting mission critical equipment,” said Bruce Geary, Vice President of Sales and Marketing at Bes-Tech.
Digi-CRAC units modulate the compressor and fan speed to match the building load and provides an average energy savings of 30 percent in energy usage while reducing thermal stress on mission critical equipment through improved room humidity and temperature control. Digi-CRAC reduces electric fluctuation and hot/cold spots which helps prolong equipment life span and provides savings on maintenance costs. The Digi-CRAC also provides a controlled temperature and humidity environment maintaining set points of 20-22° C (68-72° F) and 45% respectively.
The need to cut energy costs and improve availability is not a problem unique to the this Data Center; rather it is a common problem and one shared by all data centers. Digi-CRAC is a proven solution to these concerns and retrofitting Digi-CRAC to existing units provides substantial savings over replacing CRAC units. Additionally, Digi-CRAC is approved internationally so data centers that have international sites can have one solution for all their data center efficiency and availability concerns.
