Farmington, MI (PRWEB) August 07, 2013
With the Inman Aligner, many of Dr. Roman Shlafer’s Farmington, MI patients are attaining the straight, beautiful smiles they desire without using traditional orthodontics treatments like braces.
Dr. Shlafer uses the Inman Aligner, a removable appliance that resembles a retainer, exclusively for correcting cosmetic issues in the upper and lower front teeth. Unlike braces and other orthodontics treatments, which are often used to modify a patient’s bite in addition to addressing aesthetic issues, the Inman Aligner focuses solely on front teeth straightening. As a result, the average length of time for this treatment is just eight to 16 weeks. This removable device offers an appealing alternative for patients who do not want to wear braces, an orthodontics treatment that uses brackets and wires to move teeth and can sometimes take years to complete.
The Inman Aligner harnesses the power of two opposing aligner bows and a system of nickel titanium coil springs to shift teeth into their new positions. Dr. Shlafer creates a customized aligner using a patient’s teeth impressions. Once the aligner is fitted, patients need to wear it for a minimum of 18 to 20 hours each day. It is best to remove the aligner during eating and brushing. Most patients who undergo this treatment only need to wear the Inman Aligner for eight to 18 weeks in order to correct their cosmetic issues; however, Dr. Shlafer may recommend an orthodontics alternative for those whose teeth straightening issues require additional time to resolve.
Once the Inman Aligner treatment is complete, patients must wear a retainer to prevent the teeth from shifting back to their original positions. To ensure the teeth are moving properly, Dr. Shlafer also requires Inman Aligner patients to schedule regular visits with him every two to three weeks so he can monitor their progress.
