(PRWEB UK) 12 August 2013 -- Residents have been informed that the discoloured water is safe to drink, reports the BBC in the article ‘South West Water says Yellow Tap Water is Safe to Drink’ on August 6. According to the article, residents receiving the water have experienced the problems for up to five days and were noticing that the water tasted different to normal.
South West Water, who supplies water to the area, has received close to 200 phone calls regarding the water since the beginning of August. According to the article the discoloured water was caused by a “slightly elevated level of manganese” – a naturally occurring element which is normally removed from water before being distributed to homes.
Guy Doble, from South West Water, told the BBC that:
“We’ve made changes at our water works and we’ve been flushing the system so we’ve cleared large areas of discoloration in Clovelly, Welcombe, Morwenstow and Kilkhampton.”
