SAE International is set to host the 2013 Commercial Vehicle Engineering Congress (COMVEC) in Rosemont, Illinois on October 1-3. This upcoming event will bring industry leaders from around the globe together to deliberate on cutting edge technical sessions and pertinent forums, presentations, and discussions that will be led by some of the biggest names in the industry.

One of these industry leaders is Rod Schrader, Chairman and CEO of Komatsu America Corporation, and this year’s Industry Keynote Speaker for COMVEC. Schrader leads and directs his company’s efforts in Construction and Utility, Mining, Parts, Finance, forestry, Forklift, Manufacturing and Engineering Divisions as well as immersing himself in Legal, Human Resources, IT, Service Support and Marketing functions. Schrader has been heavily involved in each aspect of the industry, which makes SAE International proud to welcome him to COMVEC.

This year, attendees can also look forward to multiple Special Events that will be interspersed on each day of the event. On Tuesday, the first day of COMVEC, the 58th Annual L. Ray Buckendale Lecture will be led by Donald Stanton, the Director of Engine Business Product Line Architecture at Cummins, Inc.

Stanton will be honoring SAE International’s 1946 President L. Ray Buckendale, a man driven to develop the potential abilities in young people. The objective of this annual lecture is to provide procedures and data for the purpose of developing solutions for issues in commercial vehicles, specifically in their design and the their processes for manufacturing, operating, and maintenance. This talk emphasizes practical aspects of these topics in order to better address young engineers and students, in true memory of L. Ray Buckendale.

On Wednesday, a Pre-Banquet Reception, and Industry Keynote & Awards Banquet will be held from 4:45 – 8:00pm. This will serve as a place for creating new business relationships and coordinating a network of colleagues that can work together to improve the commercial vehicle industry. This is an invaluable opportunity for the industry to grow together and continue to make significant strives forward.

Delphi will be sponsoring Wednesday’s lunch, which will provide another opportunity for networking on the exhibition floor. The lunch will allow for a break from the intense technical sessions and to relax among peers.
