Milwaukee, Wis. (PRWEB) August 08, 2013 -- After 27 years at ASQ and leading the organization’s expansive global growth, CEO Paul Borawski announced plans to retire in May 2014.
“I was proud of the organization I joined (in 1986), and proud of the organization ASQ has become,” Borawski said in his announcement. “ASQ’s mission and vision have provided for a career of immense inspiration and satisfaction.”
Borawski joined ASQ in 1986 as director of technical activities and served as executive director, executive director and chief strategic officer, and CEO.
Borawski said there have been three distinct challenges and phases in his time at ASQ, including managing growth, bringing new strategic dimensions to the organization, and advancing ASQ’s global growth opportunities.
“Today, ASQ is the Global Voice of Quality and the plans are in place that will assure a future where the organization continues to grow in worldwide influence and impact,” he said.
Borawski will continue in his role through the organization’s World Conference on Quality and Improvement, May 5–7, 2014, in Dallas, according to John Timmerman, Ph.D., chair of ASQ’s board of directors.
ASQ’s Executive Council is developing a hiring strategy that will include an external search firm, Timmerman said. Borawski will play an active role in the selection of a new CEO.
“Paul is committed to the success of ASQ and continuity of a CEO success process,” Timmerman said. “Paul’s departure is much more than a retirement because he has imprinted a legacy and was the chief architect in the growth of ASQ.”
Borawski cited his desire to spend time with friends and family and to “enjoy several long-postponed adventures” in his decision to retire.
“After 35 years in the association management profession, I’ve chosen to take some time and make some space, for other pursuits,” Borawski said. “It will be a time to reflect on the next phase of my life and the best use of my time, talents and gifts.”
Borawski has been in the association field since 1978 when he joined the Society of Manufacturing Engineers.
