BWRPLUS Formed to Leverage Synergy between Westinghouse and Toshiba Bentley to Lead Efforts of Providing Customers with a Single Communication Channel
Pittsburgh, PA (PRWEB) August 08, 2013 -- Westinghouse Electric Company and Toshiba Corporation today announced the formation of BWRPLUS, a new joint marketing organization for operating nuclear power plants in North America that will leverage the synergies between Westinghouse and Toshiba.
Through BWRPLUS, a single communication channel is offered to customers for a wide array of both Toshiba and Westinghouse technology. North American nuclear customers interested in boiling water reactor (BWR) nuclear steam supply system (NSSS), steam turbine/generator (STG), balance of plant (BOP), or transmission and distribution (T&D) products and services will benefit by working with BWRPLUS.
“Westinghouse had promoted Westinghouse and Toshiba BWR NSSS and BOP products and services to global nuclear customers while, at the same time, Toshiba promoted its STG and T&D products and services to nuclear customers,” said Mark Marano, President, Westinghouse Americas. “By joining these efforts under the BWRPLUS umbrella, we integrate a wide array of both Toshiba and Westinghouse technology and act as a single communication channel.”
“Toshiba has extensive BWR and STG experience,” said Akio Shioiri, president, Toshiba America Nuclear Energy Corporation. “This collaboration with Westinghouse will better communicate our combined strengths and provide customers with excellent technology and service.”
Wayne Bentley will lead the single communication efforts as vice president, BWRPLUS, which will operate within the Westinghouse Americas region.
“Wayne will provide leadership and focus on marketing both companies’ BWR capabilities to gain new market share and perform projects using the global resources of Westinghouse and Toshiba,” said Marano. “His many years of BWR and nuclear industry experience will help steer us to becoming an even more unified, disciplined global BWR team responding rapidly and providing seamless customer support.”
Prior to his appointment as vice president, BWRPLUS, Mr. Bentley was vice president, Westinghouse Nuclear Services, BWR Operations and Growth, and director, U.S./Europe BWR Growth, where his responsibilities were to grow U.S. and European BWR markets and bring Toshiba products and services to these markets.
Mr. Bentley joined Westinghouse in January 2007, as director, Boiling Water Reactor Services, Field Services, with 35 years of nuclear industry experience, including 12 years with General Electric.
Yoshihiro Naruse, senior vice president and chief technology officer of Toshiba America Nuclear Energy Corporation, will collaboratively work with Wayne as part of the BWRPLUS team. Mr. Naruse has 30 years of BWR experience with Toshiba, and will be a valuable asset to the team’s efforts.
