Trails 4 Trials Announces Partnership with Robbie Ventura
Goodyear, AZ (PRWEB) August 12, 2013 -- Trails 4 Trials, the first organized charity ride in Arizona’s Southwest Valley, will welcome celebrated cyclist and coach Robbie Ventura as its celebrity guest. The two-time El Tour de Tucson winner and former professional cyclist will serve as the Sept. 28 event’s emcee and race participant while also providing exclusive VIP perks for sponsors and top donors.
The cycling event will feature three road race distances and a family fun ride to benefit Gateway for Cancer ResearchSM, an organization dedicated to funding innovative clinical trials to find better treatments and cures for today’s cancer patients. Upon registration, riders will receive an exclusive training plan developed by Ventura to help them prepare for race day. He will also be on hand the evening before the ride at packet pick up to host an exclusive training tips clinic. The day of the event, participants can ride alongside him in the race before he awards the top medals, poses for photo ops and shares racing tips with fans.
“We are thrilled to welcome Robbie as our special guest for what is sure to be a very exciting day,” said Karen Kay, director of development for Gateway for Cancer Research. “A respected cyclist, dedicated philanthropist, and all around good guy, having Robbie on board will add great racing insight for participants while helping us to shed a greater light on a very worthwhile cause: cancer research.”
Ventura, whose mother is a breast cancer survivor, spent 12 years as a professional cyclist, garnering more than 70 wins throughout his career. In 2000, he started Vision Quest Coaching offering specialized training for more than 300 high endurance athletes. He has also served as a reporter and commentator for the Tour de France for the last six years.
Beginning at 6:30 a.m., the USA Cycling sanctioned, chip-timed event will feature a staggered start for cyclists racing 100, 50 or 25 miles. At 10 a.m., a 3 mile family fun ride will begin. Upon completion of the mostly-flat course that skirts the foothills of Goodyear’s Estrella Mountains, participants can enjoy a post-ride Bike Bash, complete with live music, food and beer gardens.
The race will begin and end at Cancer Treatment Centers of America at Western Regional Medical Center, located at 14200 Celebrate Life Way in Goodyear, Ariz. Registration is $50 per person and additional fundraising is encouraged. For more information and to sign up, visit trails4trials.org.
