New York Facial Plastic Surgeon Dr. Sam Rizk Notes Rise in Male Plastic Surgery
New York, NY (PRWEB) August 12, 2013 -- Facial plastic surgery is a billion dollar industry, and believe it or not, men make up a significant piece of the pie. According to a recent study by the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery (AAFPRS), 20 percent of all facial cosmetic procedures performed in 2012 were on male patients.
Driving factors of this burgeoning trend include the pressure on men to delay retirement, retain a professional edge and stay competitive in the dating game.
“Men want to look as good as they feel,” states Sam Rizk, MD, FACS, a New York-based board-certified facial plastic surgeon. As men age noses may droop, eyes amass skin, jaw lines often soften and necks sag – leading them to appear weathered. None of this is necessary and all of it can be conveniently corrected.”
Among the men Dr. Rizk sees, he notes that neck lifts, nose jobs and removal of lower eyelid bags are the most popular procedures performed.
To answer the growing demands of his male patients, who now make up one-fourth of his patient population, Dr. Rizk has developed unique 3D high definition technology that allows for less invasive surgery and drastically reduces recovery time.
Since men highly value a strong, youthful jaw line, Dr. Rizk pioneered the Rapid Recover Neck Lift, specifically created for clients who need to return to work quickly. This modified facelift entails a small incision hidden behind the ear and another under the chin, avoiding any hairline scars. The procedure is accomplished with a high definition telescope, which allows the incisions to remain small and results in an almost bloodless operation.
When it comes to eyes, men are mostly concerned with under eye bags. Dr. Rizk addresses these bags with a procedure that leaves no visible scar. He uses a “transconjunctival” approach that entails placing an incision inside the lower lid only, which is the least invasive approach possible.
In terms of rhinoplasty, Dr. Rizk employs his signature 3D high definition technology as well as powered micro-instruments to smooth out cartilage edges and reduce nasal humps. The result is a more precise, natural looking nose with less bruising and an abbreviated recovery time (one week as opposed to the traditional three).
Although male patients are not as focused on lines and wrinkles as are women, the three most common non-surgical procedures performed on men in Dr. Rizk's practice include BOTOX® to get rid of frown lines, fillers for the nasolabial folds or lips, and peels to improve skin sun damage or skin texture. Supporting this trend, the AAFPRS reports that the number of men having BOTOX® was up 27% from 2011.
Dr. Rizk’s office is located at 1040 Park Avenue in Manhattan.
