Monroe College Launches a Bachelor’s Nursing Program for Working RN’s
Bronx and New Rochelle, NY (PRWEB) August 11, 2013 -- This fall the Monroe College School of Nursing is debuting an upper division nursing program that is custom-made for RN’s to earn a Bachelor’s degree. With the busy schedule of nurses in mind, Monroe’s new Bachelor of Science in Nursing provides a path for Registered Nurses who are seeking to advance in the nursing profession to earn their Bachelor’s Degree in just fifteen months (four semesters). In fact, students will attend class just one day per week (some semesters include one day of clinical with flexible schedules). The program is only offered to RN’s.
“We know as well as anybody that a working nurse just can’t conform a work schedule to fit a course schedule,” said Deborah Little MSN, RN, CNE, Chair of the School of Nursing at Monroe, “so we’ve gone the other way. We’ve arranged the course schedule so that RN’s can continue to do their life-saving work and at the same time advance their careers. While it might seem that nothing’s ever easy for a hard-working nurse, we’ve made it so that advancement and development are well within reach.”
The curriculum for the Bachelor of Science in Nursing Major is holistic, designed to graduate culturally competent nurses who have a deep understanding of the physical, biological and behavioral sciences as well as a broad liberal arts education.
"This is such a great program for a licensed, registered nurse who wants to advance in their profession," Ms. Little said.
Applicants must hold an RN License, an Associate Degree or Diploma in Nursing with a GPA of 2.5 or higher, and two years of full-time work experience.
