Digital Motion X ray can be used to diagnose a variety of conditions that may not be seen with a regular x ray, according to Dr. Timothy Steflik the Chiropractic Physician and director of the clinic. Conditions like whiplash from auto accident traumas and ligament instability are two of the more commonly seen cases.
Whiplash is a term used to describe a neck injury that is related to sudden distortions of the neck according the Insurance Institute of Highway Safety. The most common symptom whiplash victims report is pain due to mild muscle strain or minor tearing of soft tissue. Other injuries include nerve damage, disc damage, and ruptures of ligaments in the neck. Generally, whiplash injuries are associated with pain and decreased range of motion in the head and neck. These symptoms usually last only a short time, but occasionally they last longer and include headaches, dizziness, and tingling in the arms.
Steflik stresses the importance of getting an injury checked out as soon as possible to avoid permanent damage. “The worst words I hate to hear are ‘I thought it would get better by itself,’” adds Steflik.
Steflik says having digital motion x ray on site provides a huge advantage to patients that are experiencing neck pain or low back pain and may provide answers as to why they are having pain.
