Crowd It Forward Crowdfunds for U.S. Marines with “Shoes For Semper Fi”
Tampa, FL (PRWEB) August 15, 2013 -- Crowd It Forward, a crowdfunding website owned and operated by the ClickStartMe Foundation, Inc., launched a crowdfunding campaign entitled “Shoes For Semper Fi” to honor the viral story of U.S. Marine Lance Corporal Myles Kerr who recently displayed his true character by helping a nine-year-old boy find his lost companions while running a 5K race in Michigan. In this Random Act of Crowdfunding, Crowd It Forward will raise funds for LCpl Kerr to send him to a 5K race of his choice, to purchase him a new pair of running shoes and also to purchase a new pair of running shoes for all U.S. Marines returning home from active duty. “We created Shoes For Semper Fi to give back to Lance Corporal Kerr and other Marines who serve our country and protect us from harm,” Crowd It Forward founder and crowdfunding expert Kendall Almerico said. “Lance Corporal Kerr’s random act of kindness demonstrated the code of honor and respect Marines are trained to live by even when they’re not in the uniform.”
Kerr’s story, which has gone viral online, involves nine-year-old Boden Fuchs who was running in a 5K race in Charlevoix, Michigan. Boden had lost his group and was struggling to keep up but upon seeing a young man wearing military fatigues nearby, young Boden reportedly asked, “Sir, will you please run with me?” Lance Corporal Kerr, 19, an active-duty Marine home on leave, let his fellow marines run ahead and instead ran with Boden. Kerr finished the race 5 seconds behind his younger running partner, providing encouragement and ensuring that Boden wouldn’t have to finish the race alone. Kerr then helped reunite Boden with the rest of his family. Kerr has been surprised by the amount of attention the iconic picture and story have gotten because, as he Tweeted, “I was just doing what any man would do.”
