PDC Healthcare Launches the Comfort Collection, an Assortment of Thermal Patient ID Wristbands Designed for Patients with Sensitive Skin
Valencia, CA (PRWEB) August 13, 2013 -- PDC Healthcare, the global leader of innovative identification solutions, announced today the release of its softest new line of thermal patient identification wristbands, which includes Scanband™ Plus and ComfortBand™ Plus. Specially designed for patients with delicate or at-risk skin integrity, the bar code wristbands provide positive patient identification to help improve patient safety and workflow efficiency.
More than half of all patients could have sensitive or fragile skin due to age, certain medical conditions or treatments and medication-related issues. Of those patients, geriatrics represents 40% of all hospital admissions, and are the majority of the patient population for single and multiple hospital stays. Neonatal and infant patients whose skin is still developing may also have compromised skin integrity – as do patients undergoing chemotherapy, pregnancy or taking certain medications.
“We designed the Comfort Collection for patients with tender, delicate skin in mind. As the skin ages it takes much longer to heal because it loses elasticity, moisture and tensile strength, increasing its vulnerability to trauma,” said John Park, Vice President of Marketing for PDC Healthcare. “With its soft, smooth materials and rounded design, the Comfort Collection is the ideal thermal ID solution for hospitals treating all types of patients with at-risk skin.”
The Comfort Collection is laboratory tested for maximum comfort, safety and performance that benefits both patients and caregivers. Its patented PermaPrint® surface provides superior imprint quality, resistance to water and solvents and seamless printing. The wristbands are non-allergenic, latex free, phthalate-free and feature an antimicrobial additive that protects their surface against tested, non-pathogenic bacteria. Since the Comfort Collection is compatible with most direct thermal printers, hospitals can use their existing system for an easy implementation without the need for capital expenses. The wristbands’ large information area supports text, linear and 2D bar codes, photo ID and graphics to facilitate legibility and bar code scanning.
Scanband™ Plus is a new, softer version of PDC Healthcare’s most popular thermal wristband. Its convenient, single-piece design and secure, tamper-evident adhesive closure make it quick and easy to print and apply, improving workflow efficiencies. Hospitals can quickly print Scanband® Plus patient identification wristbands with bar codes on demand and apply them in a single step. Scanband® Plus is available for both adults and pediatric patients and is offered in multiple core sizes, winds and six colors for a variety of printers and applications.
ComfortBand™ Plus, also available in six colors, is the only thermal wristband and labels combination product on the market and is available with or without STAT labels, depending on application needs. ComfortBand™ Plus is offered in adult sizes and allows caregivers to print both a thermal patient ID wristband and eight accompanying labels in one convenient step. The wristband’s contoured shape offers complete comfort and is available with a tamper-evident adhesive closure or an optional single-post plastic snap closure for additional security. ComfortBand™ Plus’ patented design features unique cross-cuts, making the wristband compatible with PDC Healthcare’s Ident-Alert® and In-a-Snap® Color Coded Snaps to identify special risk patient conditions such as allergy, fall risk, DNR, limb alert and more.
