Seems hard to believe, but yes, time in braces or Invisalign® can be cut in half with AcceleDent®
Houston, TX (PRWEB) August 14, 2013
Houston orthodontist Dr. Vladimir Tabakman is dedicated to the advancements in his field expertise, orthodontics. Whether the advancements come in the form of new treatment systems that make braces more comfortable, or new technologies that provide better control over tooth movement, he is invested in keeping his practice on the leading edge of superior orthodontic care. But when OrthoAccel’s system, AcceleDent®, was initially approved for clinical use in 2010 with the claim of cutting orthodontic treatment time by up to 50%, Dr. Tabakman was skeptical. Now with two years of research and expertise in using OrthoAccel’s system, Dr. Tabakman and the team at West Houston Orthodontics fully embrace AcceleDent’s® position that expert utilization of the system can significantly reduce a patient’s time in treatment.
“As new products and treatment systems come onto the market, I am compelled as an orthodontic specialist to fully understand the underlying science and associated case studies of such before ever using or recommending it to a patient,” states Dr. Tabakman. He continues, “I’ve been keenly aware of AcceleDent® both because it is Houston-based and also for the fact that many of its early clinical studies were performed at The University of Texas Health Science Center in Houston. Seems hard to believe, but yes, time in braces or Invisalign® can be cut in half with AcceleDent®,” states Dr. Tabakman. “I could not wait to begin offering the system to my patients.”
“For adults who want to be out of treatment as quickly as possible, or even adolescents for whom appearance is a factor in self-esteem, the expertly employed use of AcceleDent® is a fantastic treatment option. It cuts down on the number of office visits and yields the desired outcome, a beautiful smile, more quickly,” says Dr. Tabakman.
The system consists of a mouthpiece and an activator, and the patient keeps the mouthpiece in his/her mouth for twenty minutes daily throughout the course of orthodontic treatment. The activator delivers a low-frequency vibration through the mouthpiece into the patient’s dental tissues. Dr. Tabakman explains, “The pulses created by this system are actually less than that from a powered toothbrush, so it is simultaneously non-invasive and comfortable. The result is that we are stimulating faster tooth movement, and thereby finish treatment more quickly.”
Dr. Tabakman is quick to mention that, in his professional experience, patients in treatment with Invisalign® realize the greatest benefit from the AcceleDent® system. “Perhaps it’s because Invisalign® treatment requires greater attention than traditional braces, in that you have to remove the aligners to brush, for example, that causes the patient to be more ardent in his/her nightly use of the AcceleDent® activator,” he states. “In time we’ll have research as to why it’s so. But in my practical experience, my Invisalign® patients see the biggest reduction in treatment time.”
Dr. Vladimir Tabakman and his associates at West Houston Orthodontics provide a warm and comfortable environment staffed by friendly skilled professionals that utilize the latest in computer technology (digital imaging, iTero, and advanced computer graphics) and treatment technology to ensure patients receive the most effective care possible.
