Widbook Enables Indie E-reading on the Go with New Android App
SAO PAULO, Brazil (PRWEB) August 14, 2013 -- Widbook continues to position itself as a leader in the crowdwriting, ebook and self-publishing industries with the release of its free mobile app for Android devices, available today via Google Play.
The feature-rich web application is an extension of the Widbook platform, a first-of-its-kind free digital collaborative writing platform that connects a large network of authors and readers. Widbook presents authors and aspiring authors the unique opportunity to self-publish their work, bypassing the traditional publishing house, while its collaboration and co-writing tools offer a chance to network with and solicit feedback from fellow members and improve writing along the way.
The Widbook app offers many of the same features as the original platform, including the ability to read for free and follow all of the books and authors on the platform, connect with members, add books to a personalized bookshelf, and access the website’s homepage features.
Widbook CEO and founder Flavio Aguiar said the Widbook app is a natural progression for the forward-thinking platform.
“We’ve always been committed to giving members a world-class digital reading and writing experience and the opportunity to connect with other members. Likewise, we seek to provide a fantastic mobile experience and bring the power of cloud features to as many people as possible in the most convenient way,” he said. “The Widbook app reiterates our mission to provide access to the best ebooks from anywhere, anytime.”
Anyone can start writing or reading on Widbook simply by creating an account. What makes Widbook interesting is that members can upload content already written, even completed books, or start books from scratch via Widbook’s book editor feature, and garner feedback from others while a book is in process.
“We’ve made it easy and convenient for members to get a seamless Widbook experience where they can follow the evolution of a book from start to finish, before it even launches, which was impossible until now,” noted Widbook co-founder Joseph Henri Bregeiro. “Who knows, readers may discover the next New York Times bestseller before the rest of the world.”
The app release adds further momentum to the platform’s already accelerated growth. Just last month, Widbook reached a milestone 30,000 members and currently has 1,400 books published with 6,500 in progress.
Founded in June 2012, Widbook is a free digital collaborative writing platform for authors and readers to read and publish ebooks. Widbook’s collaborative tools and features allow members to interact on projects and co-write books. Authors can customize books by uploading a unique book cover and adding multimedia such as videos, pictures and links. In just six months after funds were raised, Widbook has garnered 36,000 active members worldwide in over 100 countries, with the biggest presence in the United States.
