Honkamp Krueger to Speak at Chicago Area IIA Chapter Events
(PRWEB) August 13, 2013 -- Representatives from Honkamp Krueger & Co., P.C. (HK), a Top 100 CPA and business consulting firm, will be speaking at upcoming events for The Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA) chapters in the Chicago area. HK’s presentations will focus on training for internal auditors in the areas of construction auditing, cost segregation and Common Area Maintenance (CAM).
Matt R. Gardner, practice leader for construction audit services, and Shannon D. Wiese, risk advisory services manager will be presenting a two-part training session at the IIA NW Metro Chicago Chapter event on August 21, 2013. Their training sessions are titled, “Construction Auditing Risks and Capital Project Cost Recovery Strategies for 2013 and Beyond” and “Boosting Bottom Lines by Reviewing Common Area Maintenance Charges.”
The training will focus on how organizations can save on construction costs and minimize risk by planning ahead for capital projects and putting controls in place to review the projects throughout. They will also be discussing CAM charges and what should be included in an audit program and scope when conducting a CAM review.
“Organizations should be taking advantage of proactive and cost conscious options such as contingency construction audits from licensed and independent CCAs, CCPs and/or CFEs for all construction project contracts in excess $5 million,” says Gardner. “Inherently, these reviews, which require no additional cash outlays, will minimize and mitigate the likelihood and impact of legal, safety, environmental, regulatory, financial and reputational risks which are prevalent in construction projects within any industry.”
Gardner will also be speaking at the IIA Chicago chapter event on September 16, 2013. His presentation at this event will be “Capital Project Construction Auditing” and will provide an overview of various risk factors that often occur during capital construction projects.
