AVG Technologies to Sponsor 4th Annual Privacy Identity Innovation Conference
Scottsdale, AZ (PRWEB) August 15, 2013 -- Producers of the 4th annual Privacy Identity Innovation conference (pii2013) announced today that AVG Technologies (NYSE: AVG) will be a Platinum Sponsor of this year’s conference. Taking place September 16-18 in downtown Seattle, pii2013 will explore how to better build trust in the data-driven economy, a mission that AVG shares.
AVG, which provides Internet and mobile security, privacy and optimization to 155 million active users around the world, is making consumers’ privacy protection available across all platforms and devices following its acquisition in May of PrivacyChoice. As part of its sponsorship of pii2013, AVG will co-host the conference’s Welcome Reception on September 16th in the famous Space Needle building where PrivacyChoice founder and now AVG’s vice president of privacy products Jim Brock will demonstrate new privacy tools to empower consumers to take control of their online privacy.
“Privacy Identity Innovation is the only tech conference of its kind to look at how to protect sensitive information while enabling new business models and technologies. Products like AVG’s PrivacyFix offer consumers a choice and that’s what our conference is all about,” said Privacy Identity Innovation co-founder and executive producer Natalie Fonseca. “Jim [Brock] has been a speaker at the conference for a number of years and we’re excited to have AVG sponsor and choose pii2013 as the venue to showcase their new products.”
This year’s event will kick-off at 11:30am on September 16th with a special pre-conference Global Data Protection policy workshop, co-hosted by AVG, and pii2013 will continue September 17-18 at the Bell Harbor International Conference Center. Over 75 leading experts from the technology industry, government and nonprofit sectors will participate as speakers, including AVG’s own Jim Brock who will participate in a panel about businesses enabling consumers to control their digital footprint moderated by Forbes senior editor Kashmir Hill. The audience will also hear from speakers from the Federal Trade Commission, Microsoft, AT&T, Mozilla, Disney, Intel, Yubico, Impermium, Forrester Research, CDT and Stanford’s Center for Internet & Society.
“Technology enriches our lives but presents ever more frequent and complex privacy choices. Conferences like pii2013 play a critical role in keeping these topics front of mind with consumers, industry and regulators,” said Jim Brock. “People want more meaningful and easier control over their data in social networks, cloud services and the marketing ecosystem. The products we will showcase at pii2013 offer the peace of mind which, unfortunately, years of public debate and industry initiatives have failed to deliver.”
