AlertSystems Respond to CCTV of Man Stealing Vacuum from Supermarket
(PRWEB UK) 15 August 2013 -- Essex police have released a CCTV image in the hopes of tracing a man suspected of stealing a vacuum cleaner from a supermarket in Chelmsford, reports East Anglian Daily Times on August 8.
The incident happened at around 12.10am on July 11. An Essex Police spokesman said:
“A man walked in to the store and selected the item from the display. He then walked out carrying it on his shoulder, making no attempt to pay.”
Thefts can be an ongoing problem for retail businesses, especially those that operate 24 hours a day, with skeleton staff at night.
As experts in security systems, AlertSystems stresses the importance of a CCTV security system in identifying thieves and offsetting crime.
A spokesperson from AlertSystems said:
“It can be difficult to keep watch over a large area such as a supermarket, especially if there are lower numbers of staff working. In the same respect, it can also be difficult to know if a large item has been paid for or not, because it is not usually placed into a carrier bag. The presence of CCTV in helping identify incidents such as this and keeping surveillance on a large area such as a supermarket is vital in ensuring thieves are caught.”
