Tidewater Physical Therapy’s Marty Daigneault Earns Lymphedema Therapy Certification
Williamsburg, Va. (PRWEB) August 13, 2013 -- Tidewater Physical Therapy’s Marty Daigneault recently completed the Norton School of Lymphatic Therapy in North Carolina and earned her certification as the practice’s newest certified lymphedema therapist.
Daigneault treats patients in Tidewater Physical Therapy’s Norge location near Williamsburg.
Whether it is during the treatment of lymphedema or orthopedic patients, Daigneault believes “that a combination of therapeutic exercise, manual therapy techniques, patient education and individualized care are imperative to help patients achieve their goals.”
Lymphedema occurs when the natural drainage function of the lymphatic system is impaired, often by cancer treatment, trauma, or genetic predisposition, and fluid builds up in the tissues. That build up – lymphedema – can lead to stiffness, paid and infection.
Tidewater Physical Therapy’s certified lymphatic therapists – located in Norge and Newport News at the Hidenwood clinic – are trained to naturally rid patients of the trapped fluid using Complex Decongestive Physical Therapy.
Daigneault joined Tidewater Physical Therapy in 1996 with a broad range of clinical experience in acute care, outpatient physical therapy and wound care. She earned her undergraduate degree from Shenandoah University and graduated from John Tyler Community College Cum Laude as a Physical Therapist Assistant.
She is experienced in treating a variety of orthopedic conditions, including post-surgical total joint replacements, ACL reconstructions and rotator cuff repairs and is experienced with peripheral joint and spine mobilizations.
