Surpass Software Library Automation Upgrade Focuses on e-Book Integration
CALHOUN, Ga. (PRWEB) August 19, 2013 -- Surpass Software announces the launch of version 7.0 of its library automation packages with new features that focus on e-book integration. The upgrade also introduces dozens of features requested by users.
“Surpass users are going to be so pleased with Surpass’ e-book integration,” said Jarrett Volzer, President of Surpass Sales and Marketing. “We recognize the growing importance of e-books in our customers’ libraries and have designed Surpass 7.0 to integrate smoothly with a variety of e-book systems.”
Surpass SIP server provides integration with e-book systems to allow for instant patron validation. New category icons for OverDrive, Baker & Taylor Axis 360, Mackin VIA and others allow imported e-book records to be identified with the associated provider. A new ‘Access Digital Media’ feature gives patrons quick links directly to the media access point. Deeper integration with leading e-book providers will be released later this year.
Version 7.0 of Surpass continues the 25-year tradition of developing features based on the requests of Surpass users. “Almost all of the new features in Surpass 7.0 are the result of direct feedback from Surpass users,” said Danny Humphress, President of Development and Support.
The new release of Surpass also includes support for Fountas & Pinnell gradient levels, with features for printing codes on spine labels and patron catalog features to filter by level.
Key new features since Surpass 6.0 include:
• Full support for RDA
• Newly enhanced content offerings for "Books In Series" and "CD & DVD Cover Art"
• Age analysis report by call number range
• Option to add Facebook "Like" button to listings in patron catalog
• Ability to upload custom cover art images from local files or scanned images
• Support for direct integration with 3M's latest RFID system
• Automatic e-mail notification to library staff when patron reviews are submitted or reservation requests are placed from the patron catalog
• Circulation alerts for family group members
Other new features in Surpass 7.0 include dozens of appealing category icons for the Safari patron catalog, enhanced handling of patron reminder notices for overdues and fines, faster ways to find patrons by phone or e-mail address searching, a new drill-down feature to instantly find transaction details, and more.
The update to Surpass 7.0 runs across all four Surpass automation suites, making the new features available for all library types using any of the Surpass packages. Surpass is used in all types of libraries, from school and public libraries to corporate or church libraries. Users of both on-premise and hosted versions benefit from the upgrade, which is free to all users with a support subscription.
