There’s a plethora of perfectly good phones in working condition, and if anything we should be encouraging a healthy cycle of reusing phones instead of discarding them.
London (PRWEB UK) 14 August 2013
Mobile phones are fast becoming the world’s number one gadget – and with such a huge demand, comes as no surprise to hear that global mobile phone shipments reached an astounding 432.1 million for Q2 of 2013.
Up from an impressive 407.7 million in the same period as 2012, the statistics (as reported by V3 on 26 July 2013) also found that the volume was significantly higher than Q1 of 2013 – as major vendors such as Apple, LG and Samsung boosted their shipments.
A spokesman from Vivastreet said: “Nowadays, you can’t escape the smartphone phenomenon – and as the handheld device revolution sweeps its way across the world from households through to workplaces, there’s no denying the impact mobile phones have made upon our everyday lives.”
“What was once a luxury is now an everyday essential, and this is evident in its demand – but as a surplus of mobile phones make its way to different channels, it’s important to not waste older models that are quickly becoming outdated by newer and faster smartphones.”
As published in an article by V3, the data from research agency IDC found that growth represented a 10 per cent unit rise over 2012’s correlating financial quarter.
“While it’s certainly an incredible feat to have so many people want to invest in the latest technology, it seems a huge waste for older editions to be left on the side,” explained the spokesman.
“There’s a plethora of perfectly good phones in working condition, and if anything we should be encouraging a healthy cycle of reusing phones instead of discarding them. With several perfectly functioning phones out there, whether you’re an iOS or Android fan, not only will you be saving money with a secondhand smartphone – you’ll also be saving the environment.”
