College Wages War on School Alcohol Abuse After Student Dies
Miami, FL (PRWEB) August 17, 2013 -- As reported by the Associated Press (8/12), in their story, Washington State tries new tactics against booze, that Washington State University (WSU) is asking for new regulations to reduce student alcohol abuse including binge drinking after a recent death of a student due to alcohol poisoning. WSU will hold more Friday morning classes to eliminate three-day binge drinking weekends and notify a student's parents if the student is drinking or using drugs.
Alcohol abuse in the United States has been skyrocketing and many addicts have been checking into 24/7 medically supervised detox centers such as South Florida's Harbor Village. At Harbor Village, an alcoholism treatment center, clients with prescription drug and alcohol issues can begin a proven step-by-step program to help them eliminate their addiction. Each client enjoys a luxury, state-of-the art environment where they are welcomed with upscale accommodations including a beautifully furnished suite with satellite television, 30,000 square feet of outdoor lounge area, spa, salon, massage and acupuncture services, nutritious, gourmet dining and the personalized support of a caring, attentive staff.
According to Washington State tries new tactics against booze, "Robust research shows that parents can have a significant influence on their children's drinking habits," said Melynda Huskey, WSU dean of students. "Rather than using parental notification as a scare tactic, we view it as an opportunity to involve parents in the process of reducing harm."
"If something as simple as the timing of a student's academic classes will help prevent excessive drinking behavior, then it's a good science-based practice to implement," said Dr. Bruce Wright, executive director of WSU's Health and Wellness Services.
“Alcohol abuse is a serious problem that can destroy your health and cause you to lose everything. Contact a detox center such as Harbor Village and receive the care you need,” said Robert Niznik, Harbor Village CEO.
